It means a new set of weeks with a new budget to thrift, thrift, thrift. With my upcoming move to Savannah, I've been working since February on collecting furniture and vintage pieces to decorate my home. Despite keeping a fair amount of things for myself, you can see in the picture above that this doesn't cause my booth to suffer in the slightest. My mother and I work on a booth together in <strong>Angel's Antiques</strong> in Opelika, Alabama. Rather than focusing on one particular style, we pick out anything we find eye catching and appealing. Mid-century, french provencial, modern, kitschy, shabby chic.<br /><br /><br /><br />We have some of my favorite pieces we've ever found at the moment. The red velvet wing chair is from Columbus and has a little bit of wear on the back of the wood, but it's the most beautiful, rich color. Oh, and check out that freakin' screen on the left side of the picture! Okay, so it's barely visible, but if I knew how much room I would have in my home, I'd keep it all to myself.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 277px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 321px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489048003509509330" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKL4yCngxzq3Utb6kXAk3STsMlZU9FdPouFJaFoqZrbDQKfTcXWGU2bICUWz1oTBSMVIFE6_2kB0D5AO-1wtLJxSkJPALM3mk7uhxNCKaMgb_af12GcPsXN9IUcoi8qOWp5TBuz1Zce3U/s320/boothjuly2.jpg" /><br /><br /><p>Hollywood Regency was what I originally had in mind when I began collecting new (old) pieces for myself, but I've recently gone in a different direction. However, I have a serious soft spot for it. The royal blue and seafoam gold-backed chairs make me swoon. And that mirror on the credenza? Heart palpitations. </p><p>All in all, I'm thinking July will be a fantastic month as thrift store digging maniac. </p>thriftocracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14979018712618230083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380386089521054879.post-5153581538530482442010-07-01T08:50:00.000-07:002010-07-03T13:51:00.252-07:00Laundry / Lazy Morning<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/irenesuchocki/4644900436/"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488970247639222002" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkiXLlwkfKsdtFXclEwVI0VosHCe3N7CAGahJqpfETB2PDRq_qmqFxtMG_WBSE7-v-xTxOHxYX4XxZ5dCaYIXg7Vo3RmlNfpCM9tcPdULlJAqSqqy1wCqWFWkmSRMZHkVSJvR0Tt1uyMU/s320/tumblr_l3r1trbvv41qzzjaoo1_500.jpg" /></a>thriftocracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14979018712618230083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380386089521054879.post-18036815648807042742010-06-29T07:53:00.000-07:002010-07-03T13:50:37.009-07:00Thrift Store Terror TuesdaySince this is a new blog, I would like to explain what Tuesday means as a Thriftocracy reader. It's <strong>Thrift Store Terror Tuesday</strong>! What in the poopstick is that? Well, I spent 4 days out of the week thrifting in various cities nearby. Multiple times a day, I will find things that make me laugh, cry, or revert into the fetal position. Example #1:<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPTLq594Htm0N60daNlwiWtiXV0DmSF0tSan4Zepu7zvlly4FcKFRT0-jZaXs05iqLi67YgtEbjdgTzupZC2HvDaYwyIbtXPS6PCSxwgzMVI6KBWsM0jYtPlhSx6LJzv7GYgn93S_Iv70/s1600/mail.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 276px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488210231870125602" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPTLq594Htm0N60daNlwiWtiXV0DmSF0tSan4Zepu7zvlly4FcKFRT0-jZaXs05iqLi67YgtEbjdgTzupZC2HvDaYwyIbtXPS6PCSxwgzMVI6KBWsM0jYtPlhSx6LJzv7GYgn93S_Iv70/s320/mail.jpg" /></a><br /><div></div><div>I'm not sure what makes this mouse so menacing. There's a significant possibility that it has something to do with his metallic purple suit or his random, off-putting hair sprig. I mean, I get it. Rodents shouldn't go full Elmer Fudd and be totally bald. They certainly need bangs at the very least. OH WAIT, THEY HAVE FUR. </div><div></div><div><br /><br />Actually, the most concerning factor is the eyes. The dark, soulless eyes. Something mysterious drawing you in, easing you closer to certain doom. </div><div></div><div>Good luck with that, buddy. Good luck.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>thriftocracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14979018712618230083noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380386089521054879.post-26590372105747992982010-06-28T16:22:00.001-07:002010-07-03T13:50:11.854-07:00Inspiration Monday<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVeDiQLaPQoAZ7MkSIYmjmtboVDqN1zkn2ZrdU5HOZJsvYsoJeeGmfJlqo_HPk5vgBaW1n1X8m718IWm6Nf2QA1NRKFhCmZbaJpbmSoUveiti3pQORA5j7jDmz7dlhr0ww9ZBDTO8FxiY/s1600/househome.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 306px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487969148078630434" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVeDiQLaPQoAZ7MkSIYmjmtboVDqN1zkn2ZrdU5HOZJsvYsoJeeGmfJlqo_HPk5vgBaW1n1X8m718IWm6Nf2QA1NRKFhCmZbaJpbmSoUveiti3pQORA5j7jDmz7dlhr0ww9ZBDTO8FxiY/s320/househome.jpg" /></a><br />Blue is my flavorite color. The glass knobs are a sweet touch to the shabby cottage, colorfully retro appeal of these canisters. <br><br></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/47703848/birds-of-a-feather-antique-bread-box?ref=sr_gallery_11&ga_search_query=bread+box&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=2&order=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487542004160262306" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxdCl0YNeJZ-IwUJvK3NfWNPlOUAchwpsUtrPyAFC8PDkcEavwMXVcnETdTO69ufwqz_tOHfUeKIjZD8yZxAYL1KJvRCyE4b67U9tr2HkTJcYDP4E4Ywp-DCADUg8wz_3PQQcIpkW88U/s320/il_430xN_145788548.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/47703848/birds-of-a-feather-antique-bread-box?ref=sr_gallery_11&ga_search_query=bread+box&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=2&order=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487541997796270258" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmeffz9ab_leX00OyjCH10HRkqWLz2Gx9FSMkSD_lHDs74JOJH5nhR21-eW7-S4kASKrQEhi4AD2xcrty81poR7VcNBvWdllF7fK_iDbYoi27a_TePSInaK-3DAwqr-he6INlCFSihRMI/s320/il_430xN_145788515.jpg" /></a> </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><br><br>Speaking of amazing Etsy finds, take a look at this tin bread box from the 1950's! The best part? Well, besides the adorable birds (my weakness!)... the wear on the outside and inside of the piece. Obviously, it has been well loved and used in its life, and this is something I'm anxiously considering adding to my own collection.<br /><div></div></div>thriftocracyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14979018712618230083noreply@blogger.com0
